for health practitioners

MeditationCoach is committed to maintaining the highest possible standards of coaching and client care. Individuals with medical problems should consult their doctor or health practitioner before starting any programme of meditation. They should discuss their suitability for such a course and any possible modifications that may need to be made to the course relevant to their unique circumstances and condition.

The meditation methods employed by MeditationCoach have been developed by health care professionals for patient groups, and then adapted for wider use. The coaching method highlights the importance for meditators to adjust and self-regulate their meditation sessions to suit their individual needs.

An important value of meditation as a self-help technique is its use alongside standard medical treatment for a variety of medical conditions. Studies have shown meditation practice to be associated with:

  • Decreased blood pressure in hypertensive patients
  • Reduced heart irregularities in patients with ischaemic heart disease
  • Improved heart functioning in patients with coronary artery disease, and in those with angina pectoris
  • Reduction in blood sugar levels in patients with Type II diabetes
  • Reduced severity and frequency of tension headaches in headache prone individuals
  • Improvement in symptoms of psoriasis
  • And lessening of pain in fibromyalgia
  • Opening of the airway passages in bronchial asthma patients
  • Improved sleep patterns in those with insomnia
  • Reduced coronary prone behaviour patterns
  • Improved emotional state of psychiatric patients in hospitals and in the community
  • Reduced pre- and post-operative stress
  • Reduced need for heavy medication after surgery
  • Enhanced and speedier post-surgery recovery
